PNP in need of 4K line officers, criminologists

MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) is in need of 4,014 line officers and criminologists who will be commissioned into the PNP Officer Corps under the 2018 Lateral Entry Program for Line Officers duly approved by the National Police Commission.

In a statement, the PNP-Public Information Office said the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM) held a public opening of test results on Wednesday for lateral entry applications as part of the preventive component of PNP’s internal cleansing program.

In a tabulation prepared by the Recruitment and Selection Division, 7,205 police officer candidates took the 2018 Written Competitive Examination on Sunday in various examination centers in Angeles City, Lucena City, Cebu City, Davao City, and Taguig City.

The candidates come from a pool of qualified Police Non-Commissioned Officers on active duty.

The DPRM said the PNP Lateral Entry Board is now preparing for the Psychiatric Psychological Examination (PPE) of candidates which will be held from Oct. 20 to Nov. 20.

Moreover, the successful applicants for the lateral program will take their oath as PNP Line Officers on March 4, 2019 to be administered by the PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde.

Albayalde said the PNP is imposing additional safeguards to ensure transparency and integrity of administrative processes, particularly in recruitment and selection to eliminate possible opportunities for irregular practices of undue influence, favoritism, fraud and corruption.

“Self-respect is what guides our morals as individuals and our collaborative action as an organization – we wear our uniforms properly and with pride, we do not sleep while we are on duty, and we do not betray our oath of office by engaging in illegal activities. We will serve with all honesty, honor, and integrity,” Albayalde said. (Christopher Lloyd Caliwan/PNA)
