A total of 107,500 fully grown marijuana plants worth some P21.5 million and planted over some 6,000 square meters (sqm) of land area were burned during a joint anti-illegal drugs operation of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Tuesday morning (July 20).
The plants were found on three separate clandestine cannabis farms in Kalinga.
Citing reports from Cordillera Regional Director Police Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee, PNP Chief Police Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar said the eradication was conducted at three plantation sites at Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga which resulted in the uprooting and destruction by burning on site of more or less:
- 37,500 fully grown marijuana plants (FGMJP) at Site 1, planted over an estimated land area of 2,500 sqm, with a standard drug price (SDP) of P7.5 million;
- 30,000Â FGMJP at Site 2, planted over some 1,500 sqm with an SDP of P6 million;
- 40,000 FGMJP at Site 3, planted on around 2,000 sqm with an SDP value of P8 million.Â
Reports revealed that no cultivator was apprehended during the operation.  Â
“Sa pamamagitan ng mas pinatibay at pinalakas na ugnayan ng PNP at PDEA, ay makakaasa po ang ating publiko sa mas pinaigting na kampanya natin kontra ilegal na droga sa buong bansa, sa ilalim pa rin ng ating Intensified Cleanliness Policy program ng PNP,â Eleazar said.
âAng mga impormasyon na inyong ipinapaabot sa aming tanggapan ay mahalaga at malaking tulong upang mas lalong mapabilis ang ating pagsagawa ng operasyon ng ating mga operatiba,â he added.
Eleazar also said the clearing operations were jointly conducted by operating units of Tinglayan Municipal Police Station (lead unit), Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Lubuagan Municipal Police Station, Pasil Municipal Police Station, Pinukpuk Municipal Police Station, Balbalan Municipal Police Station, 1st and 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company (KPMFC), Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU)-14, and PDEA-Kalinga. (PNP-PIO) – jlo
