PNP starts 30-day reformative program for erring cops

MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has started a new 30-day program aimed at instilling strict discipline, reform and internal cleansing among erring police personnel.

“As promised, I imposed strict discipline, reform and internal cleansing to this organization. Thus, heeding my call to develop esteemed and highly reputable police personnel, the PNP Training Service launched the 30-day Focused Reformation/Reorientation and Moral Enhancement for Police Officer in Line with Internal Cleansing Efforts (FORP POLICE),” PNP Chief, Gen. Oscar Albayalde said, who personally graced the opening day of the FORM POLICE program in Camp Crame on Tuesday.

He added that the newly launched program will be a more effective re-training program to correct misdemeanors and other less serious prohibited acts committed by errant police personnel.

“Let me emphasize that FORM POLICE is not a punishment rather a restorative approach at internal cleansing through a continuing re-training program that personnel must undergo to promote our desire to completely reform the organization—starting from the 5,582 police officers with resolved administrative cases since July 2016 until June 20, 2019,” he told reporters.

He said these cops are facing administrative cases but not for dismissal.

“These cops’ offenses are tardiness while some are frequently absent. Some are discourteous while some have conduct unbecoming,” he explained.

Albayalde said the values formation and reorientation is the core concept of FORM POLICE.

The values espoused in the police service are recited in the Police Officers’ Pledge during simultaneous flag-raising ceremonies in police camps across the country every Monday.

“If a police office memorizes the officers’ pledge and he puts into action or puts it into his heart, he will be guided accordingly,” Albayalde said.

PNP Training Service Director, Police Brigadier General Alfred Corpus said FORM POLICE is a restorative approach of the Enhanced Revitalized PNP Internal Cleansing Strategy that aims to promote complete reformation of the PNP organization.

Corpus emphasized the core concept of FORM POLICE is values formation and reorientation that are espoused in the Police Officer’s Pledge.
