PNP ‘takes over’ elementary school in Iloilo village

ILOILO CITY — More than 40 personnel of the First Company of the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) of the Police Regional Office (PRO 6) on Wednesday took over the one-day teaching duties of teachers at Pandan Elementary School in Brgy. Pandan, Lambunao, Iloilo.

Ma. Rocel G. Llona, principal of the elementary school, in a phone interview Wednesday afternoon, said that her management has requested the policemen to handle their classes through their “Pulis Sa Katawhan: Bringing the Philippine National Police Closer to the Community through School Initiatives” in observance of the World Teacher’s Day.

“We requested the services of the RPSB 6 to replace us so we can relax the whole day,” she said.

She said most of those who handled classes were education graduates so “they know how to deal with pupils.”

She added that their topics were very informative and compatible with the grade level they handled.

Llona is a member of the Regional Advisory Council (RAC) of the RPSB.

RPSB first company commander, Senior Inspector Edgar Anonoy, said the elementary school was the first recipient of the PNP’s best practices project under the enhanced “Pulis Ko, Titser Ko” program.

They discussed topics on crime prevention, laws governing children, love of country and the Anti-Bullying Act, among others.

The RPSB company is based in Janiuay, Iloilo. (PNA)
