PNP to strengthen campaign vs illegal logging

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will strengthen its campaign against illegal logging in Region 2.

According to new PNP Spokesperson Police Brigadier General Ildebrandi Usana, PNP Chief Police General Debold Sinas has ordered to ensure that anyone destroying nature will be held liable in accordance with the law.

PBGen. Usana stated that the PNP’s campaign against illegal logging activities has been running for a long time. Police data bares around 57,000 board feet have been confiscated from illegal loggers.

In relation with this, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) has called for a stop in illegal logging in mountains.

“Kinakailangan din pong matigil ang illegal logging sa mga bulubundukin na lugar at pag aalaga sa ating mga watersheds. Kailangan ng kooperasyon ng lahat para maiwasan ng sakuna. (Illegal logging in mountainous areas must stop. Our watersheds must also be taken care of. Everyone’s cooperation is needed to prevent disasters.)” – Report from Bea Bernardo
