PNP welcomes candidates’ commitment to drug-free governance

The Philippine National Police (PNP) welcomes the declaration of 2022 electoral candidates to undergo drug tests.

According to PNP Chief Police Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, this step by the candidates shows their commitment to a drug-free governance.

“As applicants for government positions, candidates for the May 2022 elections should indeed be at the forefront of showing to the public that they are clean and that they will continue addressing the problem,” Eleazar said in a statement on Saturday (Oct. 30).

Presidential candidates Vice President Leni Robredo and Sen. Ping Lacson were the first to express support for the drug test.

Other candidates Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, Sen. Manny Pacquiao, Sen. Ronald dela Rosa, and Bong Bong Marcos seconded the need for drug-test. PTV News/PG – bny
