A contractual employee of the Philippine National Police Academy was found positive for drug use during recent drug screening of more personnel at the training facility following the discovery of drug use by a senior police cadet.
This developed as another job order employee was identified as the source of illegal drugs of the graduating cadet who earlier tested positive for drug use.
Both civilian employees are now the subject of a deeper investigation by PNP authorities, even as PNP Chief, Police General Debold M Sinas ordered criminal and administrative cases filed against all personnel involved.
The Chief PNP said the PNP Crime laboratory has so far administered drug testing to 1,065 personnel of the PNP Academy comprising 817 cadets, 44 Police Commissioned Officers, 44 Police Non-Commissioned Officers, 12 Non-Uniformed personnel and 148 job-order employees and service providers, composed of utility and messhall workers, security guards, janitors, and barbers.
Sinas said Zepther G Samonte, a contractual band member was initially screened positive for illegal drug use.
Meanwhile, follow-up investigation on Cadet 1st Class John David Macagba revealed his alleged source of illegal drugs as DIOSDADO REYES y Reyes, 25, a stay-in Mess Hall worker.
Citing reports from PNPA Acting Director Police Brig Gen Rhoderick Armamento, Sinas said Macagba admitted that he bought P3,000.00 worth of Shabu from Reyes.
Reyes was was cornered at the Mess Hall Quarters on January 5, 2021 by PNPA officials led by PBGen Armamento together with Intelligence and Investigation Section and Tactics Group. He was turned over to Silang Municipal Police Station together with recovered drug paraphernalia including used strips of aluminum foil with visible traces of white crystalline substance, he is schduled to be charged before and inquest prosecutor today.
In a follow-up anti-drug operation, a certain NOEL MIRANDA y Catindig aka Bayabas 28, was apprehended at about 9:00PM of January 5, 2021 at Barangay Lumil Silang, Cavite by joint units from Regional Drug Enforcement Unit and Silang Municipal Police Station. He was listed as newly Identified Drug Personality but reportedly the main source of Reyes. Confiscated from his possession during buy-bust operation were (2) pcs heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of Shabu using one piece Php 500.00 buybust money and 1piece Php 500.00 recovered money.
