DAVAO CITY — Two anti-drug units arrested five illegal drug peddlers in two separate buy-bust operations in the city.
On Tuesday, two college students were arrested by the elements of the Drug Enforcement Unit of San Pedro Police in a buy-bust operation conducted along Jacinto Ext., Acacia, Barangay 32-D.
Chief Insp. Ramil Macarampat, the commander of San Pedro Police Precinct, identified the arrested suspects as Ralph Barnachea, 21, an Information Technology student and a resident of Rosalina III, Talomo District, and Sean David Bayla, a Hotel and Restaurant Management student and a resident of Tahimik Ave., Matina.
According to the report, the suspects conspired and sold a pack of suspected marijuana wrapped in a yellow paper to a poseur-buyer in exchange for PHP500.
Authorities recovered from their possession another three big packs of suspected marijuana wrapped with a yellow paper and another five small packs wrapped in a newspaper with a total estimated street value of more or less PHP5,000 placed inside a red Jansport bag owned by Bayla.
Also recovered were the marked money, one unit Samsung cellphone used for a drug transaction, assorted IDs and suspected drug money amounting to PHP840.
A case of violation of section 5 & 11 of R.A. 9165 will be filed against the two.
Meanwhile, three persons were also arrested in the buy-bust operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement unit of Talomo Police along Kilometer 7, Mc Arthur Highway, Bangkal on Monday night.
City Police office director Sr. Supt. Alexander Tagum identified them as Edward Llanto, 42, sales agent, a resident of Lanang, Rue Sanggalang, 43, a resident of Royal Valley Bangkal and Darween Clark Acto, 44, a resident of Elenita heights, Catalunan Grande, this city.
According to the report, they were arrested after conniving and confederating in selling one big sachet of suspected shabu to a police undercover in exchange for PHP7,000.
Seized from their possession were another big sachet of shabu, three units of cellular phone, a sling bag containing wallet and assorted IDs bearing the name of Llanto .
A total of P15,000 worth of shabu was confiscated.
The suspects are now detained at the Talomo and San Pedro police precincts for the filing of the appropriate case. (Rhoda Grace Saron/PNA)
