ZAMBOANGA CITY — The director of the Police Regional Office 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) has lauded police personnel for the peaceful Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) plebiscite last Monday.
“I wish to congratulate each and every member of PRO-9 for a job well done in maintaining the peace in the whole region during the BOL plebiscite with only a very few kinks encountered, something that we truly can be proud of,” said Chief Supt. Emmanuel Luis Licup, PRO-9 Director.
Licup noted that the BOL plebiscite in Isabela City was generally peaceful as no untoward incident had been recorded, except for an isolated incident involving a man who grabbed and tore a ballot in Barangay Sumagdang.
“I also congratulate the security forces who were tasked to secure the plebiscite for the splendid execution of the security plan that resulted in peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise,” he added.
The PRO-9 deployed 68 personnel as augmentation force to the security forces set up by the Isabela City Police Station and the military tasked to secure the BOL plebiscite.
Of the total augmentation force, the 10 personnel who are from the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) are trained board of election inspectors.
Isabela City is covered by the PRO-9 since it is not part of the current Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) despite it being the capital of Basilan province, which is part of ARMM.
