Pope Francis extended his “heartfelt condolences” on Saturday, July 9, to Japan after former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe died from a fatal gun attack.
Pope Francis said he was “deeply saddened” by the untimely passing of Abe and offered his condolences to his family, friends, and to the people of Japan.
“I pray Japanese society will be strengthened in its historic commitment to peace and nonviolence,” the Pope said.
Pope Francis offered prayer to the Japanese society to have the strength in its “historic commitment to peace and nonviolence.”

The former prime minister was delivering a campaign speech in the streets of Japan when he was assassinated on Friday morning, July 8.
He was declared dead on the same day due to cardiopulmonary arrest. – gb
