MANILA — The Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MMDRRMC) has ordered an inspection of government buildings and infrastructures in Metro Manila following the magnitude 6.1 earthquake that struck Luzon on Monday.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Danilo Lim, MMDRRMC concurrent head, issued a memorandum directing all concerned MMDRRMC member agencies and local disaster risk reduction and management councils to conduct an inspection, focusing on the structural integrity of all government buildings in the metropolis.

“You are hereby directed to conduct inspection of all government buildings and infrastructures in your respective areas of responsibility,” Lim said in the memorandum issued on Monday.

The inspection reports must be submitted to the MMDRRMC Secretariat on or before 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The MMDA on Monday night deployed a 10-man team from its Public Safety Division to help in the search and rescue operations in Porac, Pampanga, one of the areas severely affected by the quake.
