Power rates up next month

As fuel prices continue to rise, consumers have to face another hike in electric charges following Meralco’s announcement to raise power rates this March by P0.063 per kilowatt-hour (kWh).

The adjusted rates will bring up charges by P13.00 for 200kWh consumers, by P19.00 for 300 kWh, P25.00 for 400kwh, and P31 for 500kWh.

Meralco said this is brought about by rising generation charges due to high prices in the electricity spot market and the peso value versus dollar.  – Report from Cleizl Pardilla/AG-rir
