Power restoration among Bohol residents’ wish for New Year

Among the top New Year wishes of Bohol residents is the restoration of electricity as they continue to recover from the massive damages brought about by Typhoon Odette in mid-December.

The province has been experiencing a blackout for two weeks after the typhoon damaged power lines. Personnel of power companies from other regions have already been helping in the repair operations.

“Napakasarap sa pakiramdam na nakatulong kami rito sa pag-restore ng power sa Bohol at nakikita rin namin din ang kasiyahan ng mga taga rito, talagang nagpapasalamat sila,” Meralco foreman Lito Laserna said.

The construction of electric posts is in line with the expected restoration of power supply in the province.

“Sabi daw nila, magkakaroon daw ng partial power… Tingnan natin, kakayanin daw by Dec. 31, may partial power, siguro ilang oras, ilang porsyento lang, mga 30 to 35%, may rotational brownout pa rin,” Gov. Arthur Yap said.

Yap earlier appealed to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), distribution utilities, and telecommunication companies to fast track repair operations.

He said water refilling stations’ operations have been affected by brownouts, and that several towns have yet to be contacted. – Report from Allan Francisco/AG-rir
