MANILA — Instead of praying for the cessation of the government’s ongoing anti-narcotics campaign, religious leaders and their flock should pray that drug dealers and addicts reform and stop their illegal activities.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Dir. Gen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, made the statement in response to the call made by religious leaders for their followers to pray for the suspension of the ongoing anti-illegal drugs campaign, a Radyo Pilipinas report said Monday.
This is in wake of the large numbers of suspected drug pushers and users killed during police operations in Bulacan, Manila and Caloocan City last week.
Dela Rosa added that if there was no illegal drugs trade, there will be no violence which results in the death of illegal drugs suspects and law enforcers alike.
Halting anti-drug operations now will only result in the negation of the campaign’s success, the PNP chief said. (PNA)
