Pres. Duterte sacks ASec. Purisima, accepts resignation of DICT USec

President Rodrigo Duterte has fired Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Deputy Administrator Assistant Secretary Kristoffer James Purisima.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, loss of trust and confidence is the reason behind the decision of the President. It is a proof that the Chief Executive is still focused on the different aspects of the government amid the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

“Paulit-ulit po na sinasabi ng Presidente, anumang uri ng korapsyon, kapag meron nang whiff, whiff of corruption, hindi po pwede sa kaniyang administrasyon. (The President keeps on repeating that any type of corruption is not allowed in his administration),” Presidential Spokesperson Roque pointed out.

In relation to this, Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Undersecretary Eliseo Rio Jr. resigned from his position. Sec. Roque disclosed that President Duterte has accepted his resignation and has thanked Rio for his service to the country.
