President R. Marcos Jr. vowed on Thursday, Sept. 22, to invest more in infrastructure and promote the Filipino brand in a bid to boost Philippine tourism.

Marcos, during the Philippine Economic Briefing in New York, pledged to strengthen the revitalization of the tourism industry.

“We will reinvigorate [the] tourism sector by investing in travel infrastructure and promotion of the Filipino brand, with the Department of Tourism leading our efforts to revitalize both domestic and foreign tourism,” Marcos said.

“We will ensure the safe reopening of tourist destinations and develop the Philippines’ yet to be discovered attractions,” he added.

Marcos earlier made a pitch before the United States’ business community to invest in the Philippines, touting the country as “the smart investment choice.”

He also described the country as “Asia’s fastest rising economic star.”
