President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Wednesday, September 20, led the Outstanding Government Workers and Gawad CES awards rites and announced a higher bounty for policemen coddling drug syndicates.
In his speech, the President reiterated his administration’s commitment to fight corruption, criminality, and illegal drugs.
In a bid to catch ninja cops or those members of the police who are protecting the drug syndicates in the country, Duterte said he is raising the reward to P3 million per head.
“Kaya ang patong ko sa inyo ngayon, kasi wala namang nahuling ninja cops, I’m raising the ante. I’m offering three million per head — per head. Tignan ko. Tataas nang tataas ‘yan. So that we will get rid of you,” Duterte said.
He noted that there are over 20,000 policemen in the country who are protecting the drug syndicates.
The Chief Executive, in August last year, announced a P2 million bounty per head for the ninja cops.
During the ceremony, the President Duterte also conferred the Gawad CES, the Civil Service Commission Pagasa Award, the Dangal ng Bayan Award, and the Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award.
“I’d like to congratulate all of you and everybody here Filipinos, men and women of goodwill. And who love their country,” he said.
During his speech, the President said one of the reasons why the Philippines is really being pulled down or has not achieved its full potential is because of the prevailing law and order and corruption.
“In my speeches and even during the national debates for the Presidency, I limited my talk to about just four factors. And if I win, I’d stop corruption and I will do it. My God, I will really do it,” Duterte said.
“I’m really bent on. If I can stop it altogether, maybe, but that’s an impossible objective. So just to reduce it to the barest minimum,” he said.
“Ayaw ko talaga ng corruption. And for the years of my public service, I’ve always been zeroing in. Now we cannot and we will not rise above our lives now. Quality, economics, social, if we cannot stop corruption,” he added. (PND)
