Priest dies, two hurt in Nueva Vizcaya collision

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya — A priest was killed and two of his passengers were wounded when their car rammed a 10-wheeler truck along the national highway in Barangay Indiana, Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya on Tuesday morning (May 8), police said.

Killed was Father Silverio Ablaza, parish priest in Aritao town, and wounded were Father Rene Caligue, Ablaza’s assistant parish priest, and Tessie Aliac, according to a report of Chief Inspector Villegas Claveria, Bambang police chief.

The Toyota Revo driven by Ablaza, while on his way home in Aritao town in Nueva Vizcaya, overtook another car but it crashed head-on with the truck driven by Montano Madarang of General Mamerto, Natividad, Nueva Ecija. Madarang surrendered to the police.

The car was wrecked while the truck was also damaged.
