Private and government sector joined forces to vaccinate A4

By Christine Fabro

The vaccination rollout program for the A4 category that consists of the economic frontliners and government workers, the largest population among all the categories, began today (June 7).

Both government and the private sector will participate in the vaccination of the A4, said the Presidential Advisor on Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion in an interview with Laging Handa public briefing on June 7.

Concepcion said that the inoculation exercise for the private sector will begin in July, while the local government units (LGUs) will begin administering vaccines this month.

“‘Yung pag-uumpisa sa private sector, uumpisahan iyan ng July. ‘Yung LGU, mauuna sila kasi may mga bakuna na sila pero ‘yung sa private sector, dadating ng mid-July o August,” he said.

However, some employees in the private sector have already been inoculated with COVID-19 vaccines as they belong to different barangays that already began administering the vaccines.

“Ang nangyayari, tumutulong ang LGU sa mga private sector ngayon kasi ang mga empleyado namin belong to different barangays, kaya kumukuha na rin sila ng mga bakuna nila diyan so malaking bagay,” Concepcion added.

Concepcion said that almost 2.5 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines will arrive in mid-July to August, while 7 million doses of Moderna vaccines are also expected to be delivered next month.

“‘Yung goal ng private sector is to focus ‘yung NCR Plus 8. Even 50% ang makuha natin, malaking bagay na iyan ay mabakunahan before the end of the year,” he said, adding that the more people who will get vaccinated, the higher the chances that the economy will gradually recover this year.

Moreso, the consumer confidence will also be gained once the private sector starts inoculating its employees.

“I think it’s the duty of every Filipino citizen to take the vaccine because that’s the only way that we can save the lives and livelihood of others. There’s no other solution,” the presidential advisor said.  – rir
