PRO-1 bests 16 other regional offices in crime clearance, solution

SAN FERNANDO, La Union — The Police Regional Office (PRO) in Ilocos region ranked first in crime clearance efficiency and second in crime solution efficiency among the 17 Philippine National Police regional offices in the country in the first quarter of the year.

Supt. Marlon Paiste, police information officer of PRO-1, in an interview with the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Monday, said PRO-1 acquired a 90.30 percent average rating for crime clearance and 76.65 percent in crime solution efficiency in both index and non-index crimes.

Of the 11,159 crimes recorded in the region from January to April 30 this year, 10,077 have been cleared out while 8,553 crimes have been solved based on the reports submitted by the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD), according to Paiste.

“Regular conduct of case conference with investigators on the field, proper supervision of field commanders in the conduct of operations and cooperation of community, especially the victims in giving statement and conduct of investigation to identify persons of interest and suspects, are the primary reasons why PRO-1 garnered the ranking,” he said.

Paiste added that response to incidents of physical injuries and operations related to the implementation of special laws have the highest number of operations they have conducted.

He said PRO-1 commanders want to add more to their strategies with the help of investigating units in order to maintain their current ranking. (Hilda Austria/PNA)
