PRO-11 assures safe observance of Holy Week

DAVAO CITY—The Police Regional Office-11 (PRO-11) assured Dabawenyos of a safe observance of the Holy Week, saying police personnel will be more visible in places of convergence and residential areas.

Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz, PRO-11 spokesperson, said the police will conduct security patrol and visibility in places of religious activities to ensure the safety and security of the faithful.

The PNP will deploy motorcycle cops and other mobile patrollers to conduct visibility and security checks in all residential areas, places of convergence like malls, seaport, airports terminals and tourist destination, Insp. Driz said.

However, Driz urged the public to be more vigilant against suspicious persons and to observe safety measures like unplugging electric appliances when they are not at home to avoid fire incident.

Aiza Yusop, the General Manager of the Davao City Transport Terminal, said inspection will be conducted on buses to ensure their roadworthiness starting Wednesday in coordination with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

With the influx of travellers, Yusop said security measures are stricter in the terminal.

She said she also coordinated with LTFRB for a crackdown on colorum public utility vehicles.

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) is also implementing Oplan Lambat Bitag against colorum public utility buses and vehicles. (Lilian C. Mellejor/PNA)
