CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — The Police Regional Office in Central Luzon (PRO-3) has put in place security measures in preparation for the opening of classes on June 3.

Brig. Gen. Joel Napoleon Coronel, PRO3 director, said on Tuesday their office is all geared up to provide the utmost assistance and security to students when they go back to school.

Coronel explained that guidelines were established in accordance with the program Ligtas Balik-Eskwela 2019.

He said the maximum number of police personnel will be deployed in the different provinces to provide public safety and police visibility in schools, colleges, universities and nearby areas, which are most likely to be targeted by criminals.

“Likewise, police assistance desks, manned by a team with the commissioned officer as its leader, will also be established in every school on June 3 to preempt and respond to any eventuality,” he said.

Coronel said he directed all field officers to personally visit the different schools and coordinate with school officials in order to deter lawless elements from doing illegal activities such as holdup, pickpocketing, snatching, drug-pushing and even kidnapping of students.

Police will be working hand in hand with the traffic auxiliaries in traffic control and directions, where students will travel to and from the various schools in various cities and provinces.

Meanwhile, Coronel advised the public, especially the students to be more vigilant when taking public transport, where lawless elements might take advantage.

“Commuters are advised to be mindful and to secure their belongings. Likewise, parents and guardians are advised to always keep an eye on their children while going and leaving school premises,” he added.
