PRO 7 to probe masterminds of alleged fake FB accounts, pages

Police Regional Office 7 (PRO 7) is considering an investigation to determine the masterminds of fake social media accounts following the reported shutting down of more than a hundred accounts and pages in Facebook.

“We will try to investigate what happened to those FB accounts that had been removed from the web of Facebook. So here in Central Visayas, so far, I was not informed of whether a Facebook account of authorized PNP or armed forces elements here are affected,” PRO7 Director Ignatius Ferro disclosed.

Ferro added that the probe aims to dispel public fear in the delivery of correct information and “we should welcome the investigation, so that the fear in just delivering the information weigh properly so that everyone should have the chance to speak out”.

To date, there is still no report of any official from the PNP and AFP whose Facebook account was removed by the social media platform.
