PRRD appoints Inting as Comelec commissioner

MANILA — President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justice Socorro Inting as commissioner of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Duterte signed her appointment paper on April 17, replacing former commissioner Arthur Lim who stepped down in February this year.

Inting, a native of Davao City, will serve as commissioner until Feb. 2, 2025.

Before joining the CA in 2009, Inting served as presiding judge of Makati City Metropolitan Trial Court for three years and Manila Regional Trial Court for nine years.

Inting was also a prosecutor for six years and a Public Attorney for seven years.

She obtained her Bachelor of Laws Degree as cum laude from the Ateneo de Davao University in 1980. (PNA)
