PRRD asks ‘ninja’ cops to yield

DAVAO CITY – President Rodrigo R. Duterte gave rogue policemen 48 hours from Friday to surrender to face the charges against them.

Speaking at the convention of the Hugpong ng Pagbabago at the SMX Convention Center here here, a regional party founded by her daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte, the President said he was raising to PHP5 million the reward to anyone who can bring him a dead “ninja” cop.

“So those policemen listening, this is legal (money) if you don’t want to commit crimes. I did not say you kill but if you bring one alive, I’ll give you PHP10,000 (but) I might kick you on your way out,” Duterte said. “I am not not trying to flatter you, I’m not like the others. If I say it in public, I’ll do it.”

He then said rogue cops should “(s)urrender within 48 hours.”

“If you do not, I will put up another PHP1 million per month until the time your wife would find a boyfriend to kill you,” he warned.

Duterte then lamented how he gave so much trust to policemen and they still do unlawful things.

“I have trusted you, been proud of you,” he added.

He said he also provided all the financial needs of the police.

For example, he said he would even give PHP50 million in intelligence fund per month so that policemen could do their job.

In an earlier speech, former Philippine National Police Director General Ronald dela Rosa acknowledged that the proliferation of drugs was partly due to the involvement of lawmen.

“The drug lords would pay them,” dela Rosa said.

But he said with the Duterte administration’s campaign against drugs and erring lawmen, he is confident that the drug problem would be minimized, if not totally eradicated. (PNA)
