PRRD: Chinese vaccine is as good as US, EU vaccine

President Rodrigo R. Duterte pointed out in his weekly address that all vaccines are equal following the issue raised that the government favors the Chinese vaccine Sinovac.

“Kung ayaw ninyo, okay lang. Walang problema. Kung kayong walang pera at gusto ninyo ng bakuna na mas maganda, mas mabisa, wala. Tabla lahat ‘yan. Pareho lang ang pinag-aralan nila. The same microbes ang pinag-aralan nila so kanya-kanya ‘yan. It does not mean to say that the Americans or the Europeans, the EU, are better than the Chinese (If you do not want it, it’s okay. No problem. If you don’t have money and you want a vaccine that is better, more effective, there’s none. All of them are equal. They all studied the same thing. They have studied the same microbes in their own way. It does not mean to say that the Americans or the Europeans, the EU, are better than the Chinese).”

The President pointed out that the Chinese do not lack the “brains” to invent a vaccine. They are “bright” and will not risk a vaccine if it is inadequate, “unsafe, unsure, and not secured.”

“Itong Sinopharm pati Sinovac nabakunahan na nila lahat halos ang kanilang… Kaya normal na ang buhay nila ngayon. But they are afraid of the new strain (China has vaccinated all of their [people] with Sinopharm and Sinovac that’s why their lives have returned to normal. But they are afraid of the new strain),” Pres. Duterte added.

The Chief Executive assured that whatever Vaccine Czar Secretary Carlito Galvez chooses to procure would bind him as this is tantamount to buying the right vaccine himself. He also held himself accountable if the chosen vaccines proved to be ineffective. – PTV News Online
