PRRD: I’m out if Sara Duterte will run for president

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque clarified on Wednesday (Aug. 25) that if Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte runs for president, Sen. Bong Go and President Rodrigo Duterte will not run for president and vice president respectively.

Quoting the President, Roque said Duterte will not run for vice president alongside his daughter, should she run for president, because of ‘delicadeza.’

“Iyon po ang mga binanggit na salita ni Presidente. Iyong ipinakita po [kagabi] ay kung hindi nga tatakbo si Mayor Sara. But I think ang naging mensahe ng Presidente, it’s the call of Mayor Sara Duterte. If she runs, then Sen. Bong Go and he will not run,” Roque said in an interview with PTV on Wednesday (Aug. 25).

Roque said the final decision on running for president is up to the Davao City mayor.

“In the words of the President, if Mayor Sara decides to run, then she will be the candidate. At dahil nga po sa delicadeza, wala pong pag-asa ang Duterte-Duterte ticket.” – Report from Mela Lesmoras/PG -jlo
