PRRD: Just keep your faith in government

President Rodrigo R. Duterte appealed to the public to “keep their faith” in government despite the different challenges faced by the government in fighting the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

In his weekly Talk to the People program, President Duterte asked the public not to easily believe allegations of corruption thrown at the government especially now that it is in the process of vaccine procurement.

He countered that the people who are pointing at the government for corruption are those who have not jailed any corrupt officials.

“Wala nga, sabi ko sa’yo. Ni walang napakulong ‘yang mga iyan. Sa — ‘yung napakulong ng on the basis of their investigation. Wala ‘yan. On the basis of their evidence gathered by them, karamihan nagbagsakan din (It’s nothing, I tell you. They did not even get to jail anyone. Nobody was put behind bars on the basis of their investigation. Not one. On the basis of the evidence gathered by them, mostly failed).”

He asserted that they should let the government finish its projects.

“If there’s a liability in one, there will be a liability in all. If there’s anomaly in the start, then verily at the end of whatever project is undertaken or activity, it will always be there,” Pres. Duterte added.

The Chief Executive also emphasized the credibility of his cabinet members to ensure the safety of the citizens’ lives amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Just keep your faith in government tutal si Galvez ‘yon naman ang trabaho niya. Dominguez takes care of the economy. Si Secretary Duque naman, palagi nilang inaaway pero tama naman (Just keep your faith in government. That is the job of Galvez. Dominguez takes care of the economy. They always criticize Secretary Duque but he is right). At the end of the day, you will see that everything has been done in accordance with the rule of law,” Pres. Duterte concluded. – Report from Mela Lesmoras/PTV News
