PRRD lauds MMFF festival as ‘beacon of hope for advancement’ for PHL cinema

President Rodrigo R. Duterte has recognized the talent and excellence of the Filipino film industry in line with the annual Metro Manila Film Festival.

President Duterte said the annual festival which started in 1975 has become a provider to audiences a “time to enjoy the holidays with their families and friends at the cinemas.”

“It is also the pioneer and foremost industry event that showcases the best Filipino filmmaking and how it compares to the rest of the world. The MMFF has given us memorable films that convey the richness of our culture and heritage,” he further stated.

“May the festival continue to be a beacon of hope for advancement of Philippine cinema and for the growth as a nation,” he added.

All 10 entries of the festival will be shown online due to the suspension of full operations of some cinemas as a measure to prevent virus transmission. – Report from Mela Lesmoras, PTV News Online
