PRRD orders LGUs not to announce vaccine brands

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte ordered the local government units (LGUs) not to announce the vaccine brands to avoid overcrowding in vaccination sites.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque confirmed on Thursday (May 20) that the President was concerned over the overcrowding incident during a Pfizer vaccine rollout.

The Palace called on the public not to choose brands and receive whatever is available. Roque reiterated that the best vaccine is the one accessible in the given time. He assured the public that the vaccines being administered are safe and effective since it underwent thorough evaluation.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has ordered the LGUs on May 20 to “refrain” from announcing the vaccine brands received by their respective areas following the recommendation of the Department of Health (DOH) not to disclose the vaccine brands. -rir
