PRRD orders price cap on chicken, pork products

President Rodrigo Duterte has signed the directive on the implementation of a price ceiling for select pork and chicken products in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Based on Executive Order No. 124, the mandated price ceiling for pork kasim or pigue is ₱270 per kilogram and ₱300 per kilogram for liempo. The price cap for dressed chicken is ₱160 per kilogram.

The directive aims to prevent the shoot up in the cost of basic goods that has been causing burden to many consumers amid the prevailing pandemic. The order will remain in effect for 60 days upon publication unless extended by the president upon the recommendation of the Department of Agriculture (DA). – Report from Mela Lesmoras
