PRRD orders punishment of ISPs that tolerate child exploitation

President Rodrigo R. Duterte ordered to impose punishment on any internet service provider that fails to monitor its platform from online child exploitation.

In a cabinet meeting Monday, President Duterte expressed worry over the increasing number of children with a median age of 11 who sell their own private photos.

The Chief Executive also directed the strengthening of the Department of Justice Inter-Agency Council against Trafficking (DOJ-IACAT) and additional funds for the said group.

“Various reports that reveal the surge in child pornography have caught the President’s attention, which is why he asked the DOJ to brief the cabinet on the matter as well as recommend actions that can be taken to address the online sexual exploitation of minors in the country,” Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles disclosed. – Report from Naomi Tiburcio
