PRRD salutes pandemic heroes on Rizal Day


President Rodrigo Duterte gave recognition to the frontline workers of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic during the 124th commemoration of the martyrdom of national hero Dr. Jose. Rizal.

“The trials we continue to face this year have given rise (to a) new breed of heroes who have shown extraordinary courage in the face of unprecedented challenges,” Pres. Duterte said in a recorded message.

“Let us rekindle in our hearts this strong sense of a nationhood that enabled our forebears to rise against tyranny and build society founded on the lessons taught by history,” he encouraged.

The Chief Executive also urged the nation to keep on “working together, fostering solidarity, integrity, and patriotism” amid pursuing “real and meaningful” societal change.

The commemoration of the death of Dr. Jose Rizal on Monday morning was led by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, who was representing President Duterte , together with Manila Mayor Francisco Moreno. – PTV News Online
