PRRD sees ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ as increased volumes of vaccines arrive in PH

By NG Seruela

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte expressed optimism about the nation’s capability to lift itself above the pandemic’s effects as the vaccination program for the A4 category began Monday (June 7).

In the Laging Handa public briefing, the President said in a message that the country can now “see the light at the end of the tunnel” as the vaccine shipments start to arrive in bulk.

He said the current development in the national vaccination program is the result of the “national government’s aggressive efforts to secure sufficient doses from different manufacturers.”

“With the start of our mass vaccination, the A4 priority category, [who] are workers in both public and private sector, will have an added layer of protection against the disease,” Duterte assured.

The Chief Executive reiterated that vaccination against COVID-19 is the “only way forward” in overcoming the pandemic.

“But we must also remember that getting vaccinated is not the only solution. We must continue to observe minimum public health standards by wearing a mask, washing our hands, and observing social distancing,” he said. – jlo
