PRRD strongly denounces Tarlac double murder

In light of the shooting incident in Tarlac that led to the death of two unarmed individuals over the weekend, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte denounced in the strongest of terms the dastardly act committed by the Paranaque City policeman behind the crime.

“Di ba sinabi ko, ‘You do it right, I’m with you. You do it wrong, there will be hell to pay… Do your duty, enforce the law. Your actions must be in accordance with the law. [If] you do not follow the law, mag-salvage ka (if you salvage), magpatay (if you kill), I’m sorry. That is not part of the agreement on how we should do our work.”

The suspect, Police Senior Master Sergeant Joniel Nuezca Jonel Nuezca allegedly fled after shooting his neighbors over a land row 52-year-old Sonya Gregorio and her 25-year-old son Frank Anthony in Purok 2, Barangay Cabayaoasan, Paniqui, Tarlac on Sunday afternoon.

He surrendered after about an hour at the Rosales Pangasinan Municipal Police Station and is now in the custody of the Tarlac Provincial Police Office.

The formal investigation prompted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government commenced shortly after the incident and resulted to filing of lawsuits.

“Today ay na-inquest na siya sa Tarlac Provincial Prosecutor with 2 counts murder. Within the same day ay nai-file ang kaso sa RTC Branch 67 Paniqui, Tarlac,” DILG Sec Eduardo Año disclosed.

While Sec. Año assures that Nuezca’s case is an isolated incident and that the government does not tolerate such acts within the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Chief Executive assured that justice shall be given to the victims’ bereaved families.

“Be sure that he is detained. He should not be allowed to go out kasi (because that is a) serious offense ‘yan. There’s no bail,” Pres. Duterte said. – PTV News Online
