PRRD to Año: Be on top of PNP

President Rodrigo Duterte, during his visit to M’Lang, Cotabato for the earthquake victims, informed that had directed Department of the Interior and Local Government chief Eduardo Año to spearhead the Philippine National Police (PNP) following the mind-boggling search by the Chief Executive for the next PNP director general. He also commanded Año to straighten the police agency to trim down the troubles endured by Filipinos. “Dito okay lang. Basta mga probinsiya, mahusay ang mga pulis, but in Manila . . . That’s why I did not appoint a PNP . . . Sabi ko kay General Año na hawakan n’ya muna. You fix the police so that by the time we make the . . . two years from now, at least ang mga problem ng Pilipino medyo hindi na masyado mabigat. You’re dealing with government officials or officers who are into corruption, lalo na ang droga, that I am warning you again be it the police, the mayors, o ‘yong mga barangay captains. You will die” (It is fine here. Provincial policemen are guaranteed good, but in Manila . . . That’s why I did not appoint a PNP . . . I told General Año to handle it in the meantime. You fix the police so that by the time we make the . . . two years from now, at least the problems faced by Filipinos are no longer that burdensome. You’re dealing with government officials or officers who are into corruption, especially into drugs, that I am warning you again be it the police, the mayors, or the barangay captains. You will die), forewarned the Head of State.
