BORACAY Island, Aklan — President Rodrigo Duterte is set to distribute a total of 623 land titles in Boracay and other towns of Aklan Thursday.

The 623 Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOAs) consisting of 274.0352 hectares under Agrarian Reform Program (ARP) will be distributed to 484 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) from Boracay and other areas in mainland Aklan.

Six CLOAs will be distributed to members of the Boracay Ati Tribal Organization (BATO). A total of 45 families are expected to benefit from the 3.2064 hectare of land to be distributed.

The 3.2 hectares of land in Barangay Manocmanoc is part of the 7.9 hectares of land originally turned over by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), according to DAR Secretary John Castriciones.

Castriciones, in a press conference on Thursday, assured Ati beneficiaries of the security of their land ownership. “There is no need to worry,” he said adding that “Boracay is a government property.”

Castriciones said another 14 hectares of land in Barangay Balabag is being eyed by DAR under agrarian reform.

Meanwhile, aside from Ati tribe, DAR is also set to distribute land titles to Tumandok tribe of Boracay.

Ma. Teresa Valencia, OIC of DAR-Aklan, said at least 31 families are being eyed as beneficiaries among Tumandok tribe.

Meanwhile, aside from Boracay beneficiaries, 33 CLOAs for the 30.2704 hectares of land will also be given to 28 families in Barangays Kabulihan and Nabaoy in mainland Malay.

The big bulk of CLOAs, totaling to 534 will be distributed to 484 beneficiaries in Barangay Tagas, Tangalan. A total of 183.7194 hectares will be distributed to them.
