PRRD to LGUs: Inspect buildings amid series of quakes

After paying respects before the tombs of his deceased parents in Davao City, President Rodrigo Duterte orders all local government units (LGUs) to look into all buildings to verify whether or not these structures are appropriate to shelter people. “Well, it’s time for the LGUs to inspect all buildings. Umpisahan na nila ngayon. Ang akin, for those who are staying in buildings, structures that are not fit for human habitation, tignan nilang mabuti . . . lalo na yung may simento” (Well, it’s time for the LGUs to inspect all buildings. They are instructed to commence the action now. My concern is for those who are staying in buildings, structures that are not fit for human habitation, they are instructed to check thoroughly the structures, especially those that have concretes), explains President Duterte.

He mentions that even his home in Davao City incurred cracks from the strong earthquakes in Mindanao.

On a separate news, the Chief Executive reiterates his offer to Vice President Leonor “Leni” Robredo to assume the drug czar post, saying that it will be elevated to a cabinet level position and will last until the end of his presidency. “Ibigay ko yung . . . remaining term, the remaining days of my term kung gusto n’ya. Pagka tinanggap ni Leni, if anything that has to do with drugs and criminality, you ask her na s’ya ang ilagay ko. Tignan natin. Hindi na ako makialam. Sabihin mo sa kanya, tanggapin n’ya. Sisikat s’ya d’yan” (I shall give her the remaining days of my term. If she accepts it, anything that has to do with drugs and criminality, you ask her that she will be the in-charge. Let us see. I shall not meddle anymore. Tell her to accede to the offer. She will become famous) says President Duterte.

With regard to the next leader of the Philippine National Police, he informs that he has no choice yet. “Mahirap maghanap ng tao na ibigay mo yung malaking responsibilidad. Very hard. Tayo naman e go by the record. Pag sinabing mahusay, . . . wala namang sinabi sa akin na yung pangyayari sa Pampanga o ano, e hindi ko man alam lahat ng krimen sa Pilipinas before I became president” (It is hard to find a person to whom you will entrust a huge responsibility. If one is said to be good, . . . nothing was mentioned to me about the incident in Pampanga or anything, I am not aware of all crimes in the Philippines before I became president), elucidates the Head of State.
