PRRD to visit Jordan on September 5

MANILA — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday said President Rodrigo Duterte is slated to visit Jordan on September 5 upon the invitation of His Majesty King Abdullah II.

In a statement, the agency said the official visit will reaffirm and renew the Philippines’ ties with Jordan as the Chief Executive will hold talks with King Abdullah II on broadening cooperation, particularly in promoting peace and progress.

“On this important visit, the first to be made by a Philippine President to Jordan, business leaders from both countries will likewise meet to explore ways of increasing two-way trade and investments,” the statement read.

The agency said the president will also meet with members of the Filipino community in Jordan, “in line with the Duterte administration’s thrust of empowering Filipinos overseas and enhancing their well-being.”

This trip will follow a prior historic visit by the Chief Executive to Israel, also a first by a sitting Philippine president. (Joyce Ann L. Rocamora/PNA)
