PSA: Teenage pregnancy down to 5.4% in 2022

Teenage pregnancy among Filipinos aged 15 to 19 went down from 8.6% in 2017 to 5.4% in 2022, according to the latest Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) survey.

Of those women who became pregnant, 13.3% were 19 years old, 5.9% were 18 years old, and 5.6% were 17 years old.

Only 1.7% and 1.4% were 16 years old and 15 years old, respectively.

Meanwhile, only 0.4% who were pregnant suffered pregnancy loss.

The PSA data also showed that pregnancy in rural areas was higher (6.1%) compared to urban areas (4.8%).

Northern Mindanao, on the other hand, had the highest percentage of women aged 15 to 19 who were pregnant at 10.9%, followed by Davao Region (8.2%), Central Luzon (8.0%), and Caraga (7.7%). -ag
