Typhoon Agaton left 167 dead, over a hundred missing

Typhoon Agaton has left 167 individuals dead and 100 others missing as of April 16, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council.

At least 562,548 families or 1,939,514 individuals in Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao, Soccsksargen, Caraga, and Bangsamoro have been affected.

Duterte still ‘most approved, trusted’ official

According to PUBLiCUS Asia’s Pahayag 2022 Q1 Survey, President Rodrigo Duterte is the most approved and trusted government official with a 67.2% approval rating for his work performance in the past 12 months.

The survey was conducted between March 30 to April 6 among 1,500 respondents.

Best Bar ever: Number of passers highest in years

The Supreme Court announced on April 12 that a total of 8,241 (72.28%) passed the 2020-2021 Philippine Bar examinations, higher than 2019’s 27.36%.

Fourteen Bar takers had “excellent” performance having acquired grades higher than 90%.

Step up vaccination, PRRD tells BARRM leaders

President Rodrigo Duterte urged in his latest Talk to the People the leaders of the angsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to convince more of their people to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Data from the National Task Force Against COVID-19 show that BARMM’s complete COVID-19 vaccination rate is below 30.

New coding scheme eyed

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is eyeing a new coding scheme by May which reduces traffic volume by 40% through prohibiting private vehicles on the road from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Once approved, MMDA Chairperson Romando Artes said the target date to implement the new regulation is on May 1.

Overseas voting begins

Filipinos working and living abroad have begun casting their votes on April 10, an event the Commission on Elections (Comelec) described as “generally peaceful.”

There are 1,697,215 registered overseas voters who are set to vote until the May 9 elections.
