ILOILO CITY — The regional director of the Department of Health-Center for Health Development in Western Visayas has underscored the need for the public to take good care of their health as they troop to cemeteries this Nov. 1 and 2.

“We should hydrate ourselves and avoid too much exposure to the sun,” Marlyn W. Convocar said, adding that too much exposure to the sun compromises one’s health.

In addition, she cited the need to be more careful to avoid diarrhea because of the unhygienic preparation of foods. “Wash your hands before and after cooking,” she said.

“I would like to also urge our ambulant vendors to consider food safety to prevent food poisoning and diarrhea,” she added.

Those who are driving should make sure that they are not under the influence of intoxicating drinks, the regional director added.

Meanwhile, she said that all hospitals in the region are already on Code White Alert since October 30. It means that all hospital personnel are on alert and on call for any eventualities that may happen. “We pre-position our personnel, medicine and needed equipment for this activity,” she said.

She also urged parents that much as possible refrain from bringing their children to cemeteries because those with weak immune system might easily get sick. (Perla Lena/PNA)
