Public warned vs. smuggled, fake vaccines

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is warning the public about the possible sale of fake and smuggled COVID-19 vaccines in the market.

The BOC cited the article of the Europol and the United States Department of Homeland Security which mentioned the possible exploitation of the “highly lucrative COVID-19 vaccine market” by organized crime groups.

“The article also stated that in some countries, crime groups have already tried to market fake influenza vaccines which were not manufactured and proven to be falsified,” it continued.

The BOC is urging people to be cautious due to the adverse effects of such products and to report the “presence of suspected smuggled and fake vaccines into the country” in line with its function to detect and seize illegal vaccines “as part of the holistic border protection efforts of government against all forms of smuggling.” – Report from Mica Joson
