Pulse Asia: 9 out of 10 Filipinos anticipate 2021 with hope

Nine months since the lockdown, a majority of Filipinos admit that their lives have been difficult especially daily income earners. But everyone is hopeful that things will turn for the better come 2021.

Based on Pulse Asia’s latest survey of 2,400 adult respondents from November 23 to December 2, 9 out of 10 or 91 percent of Filipinos anticipate the New Year with hope. Only 1 percent feel hopeless while 8 percent are undecided about their feelings.

The 2020 data on the number of Filipinos expressing hope for the coming year slightly went down compared to that of 2019.

The survey also revealed that 55 percent of those interviewed face-to-face said that their Christmas celebration will be just the same as the previous year. 38 percent expect the occasion to be paler in comparison while 8 percent believe it will be more vibrant.

The survey has a positive, negative 2 percent margin of error.

In an earlier report, the government admitted that it has also been greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic just as it affected the different aspects of most Filipinos’ lives. Authorities assured that the nation will rise as one.

“Ingat Buhay Para sa Hanapbuhay” will continue to be our direction in 2021 with the opening of more industries to revitalize our economy and stimulate growth for the betterment of the lives of our people next year and beyond,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque conveyed. – Report by Mela Lesmoras
