‘Pusher’ on PRRD ‘narco list’ slain in Sarangani shootout

GENERAL SANTOS CITY — A suspected drug personality on President Rodrigo Duterte’s “narco list” was killed in an alleged shootout with joint operatives in a village in Malungon town, Sarangani province on Thursday afternoon.

Supt. Aldrin Gonzales, public information officer of the Police Regional Office 12 (Soccsksargen), identified the slain suspect as Greggie Kayawan Agos, 34, resident of Purok 5, Sitio Pulatana in Barangay Malandag, Malungon.

Gonzales said elements of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 12 and the Malungon municipal police subjected Agos to a buy-bust at the vicinity of Purok 1 in Sitio Pulatana at about 4 p.m.

During the transaction, he said an undercover police officer was able to buy a sachet of suspected metamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” worth PHP500 from the suspect.

As other members of the operating approached to make the arrest, Gonzales said Agos reportedly pulled out a handgun and fired at them. Agos was critically wounded after a brief firefight with the police, he said.

The official said operatives rushed Agos to a hospital here but was declared dead upon arrival by the attending physician.

Recovered from Agos were a Caliber .22 revolver with six live ammunition, a black sling bag containing three plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, PHP1,690 in cash, identification cards and assorted personal belongings, a Samsung mobile phone, an Oppo mobile phone and the PHP500 marked bill used in the buy-bust.

The team also seized a motorcycle with sidecar bearing license plate 1201-185475 owned by Agos.

Gonzales said Agos was a known drug pusher and reportedly connected to a drug group operating in Malungon and neighboring areas.

“He was classified as a Level 1 high-value target under the President’s drug list,” he said.

The RPDEU-12 has turned over the recovered evidence to the regional crime laboratory for qualitative and ballistic examination. The seized mobile phones will be processed by the PRO-12’s anti-cybercrime unit for digital forensic examination. (PNA)
