QC jail under close monitoring, put up additional communication lines for families of PDL

The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology through the BJMP Task Force COVID-19 is closely monitoring the Quezon City Jail following the nine persons deprived of liberty (PDL) tested positive for COVID-19.

Currently, the 9 PDL remains in isolation at the COVID Isolation Center (CIC) in Quezon City.

As of 3 pm today, all of the nine PDL has no fever, cough or colds and in good shape.

They receive medical care from eight nurses detailed at the isolation center.

All medical personnel at CIC and Quezon City Jail has enough number of PPEs.

BJMP chief Jail Director Allan Iral directed the close monitoring of the PDL at CIC and Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory, particularly the provision on the provision of foods and multivitamins.

“We have doctors and nurses available 24/7 attending to the PDL to make sure that all them are receiving proper medical attention”, said Director Iral.

“I directed the management of Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory to intensify the conduct of contact tracing, so we could isolate PDL with COVID 19-like symptoms at the COVID Isolation Center where they received a more focused medical care”, he added.

The BJMP chief also extends his appreciation to the support extended by the DILG Central Office, the DOH, and the Local Health Department of Quezon City.

The DOH provided technical assistance in the assessment of the situation at Quezon City Jail yesterday, including test kits and additional PPEs, while the Local Government of Quezon City is extending support for the testing of PDL, the billeting for personnel under quarantine and the disinfection of the facility.

Meanwhile, BJMP Spokesperson Jail Chief Inspector Xavier Solda emphasized that the BJMP will continue its job in taking care of the PDL in ensuring their welfare and security.

“We experienced a setback yesterday, but we will not step back. We will continue moving forward in doing our job to protect the PDL under our care and the facility,” said Solda.

“We set up additional communication lines for the concerned families because we understand their worries. We assure them that the whole organization is closely monitoring the developments at Quezon City Jail and putting all efforts to prevent the spread of infection”, Solda added.
