Since the spike of COVID19 cases, Quezon City was one of the local government units that implemented a stricter entry and exit pass along its borders.
Take for an example the boundary in San Mateo Rizal and Quezon City where there was a long queue of motor riders being cross-checked by the PNP- HPG. One of them was flagged by the officers for not having a face shield and was warned to be issued a ticket for second offense.
Places under lockdown are implementing very strict measures especially for those coming out and going in. Like in Batasan Hills, where residents are required to wear their quarantine cards like regular IDs.
Mary Ann Pagtolonan, a resident from the said barangay said they will be apprehended if rules are not taken seriously: “Quarantine pass po, Ma’am, para proteksyon din ito kasi kapag lumabas ka huhulihin ka kapag walang ganito (Quarantine pass, Ma’am, this is for our protection because if you go out, you will get caught without this).”
Thirty-nine areas are under this special concern lockdown due to alarming new cases of COVID-19.
This left the delivery riders no choice but to either turn their backs to the SCLAs or leave the packages and delivery to the frontliners since they cannot enter the strict gates.
Purok leader Jose Balbuena said, “Lahat po sila hanggang diyan lang sa ano post diyan. Sinasabi lang po nila ang pangalan at mga volunteers na po natin sila na po ang kukuha. (All of them will have to stop near the post over there. They just say the names and the volunteers will get them).”
In the press briefing of the government state media’s show “Laging Handa”, city’s Epidemiology and Diseases Surveillance Chief Dr. Rolando Cruz, said that the QC LGU is expediting its contact tracing efforts to prevent the further spread of virus.
“Ginagawa naman ng Lungsod ng Quezon ang kanyang dapat gawin para mapabagal ang pagdami ng kaso natin araw-araw (Quezon City is doing everything to slowdown the spread of cases everyday).” – ERS
