The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said the use of quarantine passes will be effective anew and will be granted to one member of each household. The passes will be used to be able to go out and buy essential goods.
“Medyo familiar naman na tayo sa MECQ (We are already familiar with MECQ), so during MECQ, we are going to minimize movement of people. So balik ulit iyong quarantine pass (quarantine passes are back) to be issued by all LGUs,” DILG USec. Jonathan Malaya explained.
The DILG emphasized the need to strengthen the implementation of curfew for areas under MECQ which has been proposed to start from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The JTF COVID Shield disclosed that more quarantine control points are expected especially in boundaries in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, and Cavite.
“Ang bilin lang ng PNP leadership is that dapat magkaroon na tayo ng mga checkpoint sa mga strategic location, itong mga boundary o border sa mga cities and municipalities para ma-check natin at masiguro na walang unauthorized persons na nasa labas (The order of the PNP leadership is to have checkpoints in strategic locations, in boundaries or borders of cities and municipalities to ensure that no unauthorized persons are roaming outside),” PLt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar relayed.
The PNP will boost monitoring of motorists to ensure that only Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APORs) are on the road.
Meanwhile, San Juan City will release a unified quarantine pass for its residents.
“Iyong dating quarantine pass kung naitago nila iyon (If they were able to keep the old quarantine pass), we can use that again. I can give them probably a 5-day grace period para mayroon silang panahon na palitan iyong existing quarantine pass nila para hindi na maantalala iyong kailangang lumabas (I can give them probably a 5-day grace period so they will have time to replace their existing quarantine pass to prevent delay for those who need to go out),” Mayor Francis Zamora shared. – Report from Patrick de Jesus
