The Quezon City government will be sending humanitarian assistance to Abra province and Vigan City on Saturday, July 30, following the magnitude 7.0 earthquake that jolted northern Luzon on Wednesday.

The affected city and province will each receive 250 partition tents, 500 hygiene kits, 500 first aid kits, 500 COVID-19 kits, and food and kitchen supplies.

“Taos-puso po kaming nakikiramay sa mga pamilyang lubhang naapektuhan ng lindol nitong nakaraang Miyerkules. Hangad po namin na magkaroon kayo ng katatagan ng loob sa kabila ng trahedya at krisis na inyong kinakaharap,” Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said in release on Friday.

A team of social workers for the distribution of hot meals will also be deployed, along with health workers for mental health and psychosocial services, and one rapid damage assessment and needs analysis team.

The local government said the resolution for the assistance will aid around 2,000 families or 5,000 individuals affected in Abra and the 67 families or 235 individuals in Vigan.

Abra has been placed under a state of calamity following the quake.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, six deaths have been reported due to the quake in the Cordillera Administrative Region and other regions.

A total of 1,535 houses were partially damaged and 48 were totally destroyed, while infrastructure and agricultural damages have been estimated at P396.58 million and P3.88 million, respectively.
