POLILLO, Quezon – Quezon Governor David C. Suarez has rallied the island inhabitants of the Polillo group of islands here to help spur inclusive developments in the geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs).
Suarez with wife ALONA Party-list Representative Anna Marie V. Suarez and Vice Governor Sam Nantes have urged members of the island towns’ Provincial Union of Leaders against Illegalities (PULI) to serve as the “new heroes of Quezon” who could be agents for change during their two-day visit to the island town on March 17 and 18.
“Kaya po namin binuo ang samahang PULI ay para sa mga bayani na handang ialay ang kanilang serbisyo para mahikayat ang kanilang mga kababayan para gumawa ng mabubuting bagay para sa komunidad. Sama-sama at tulong-tulong tayo para sa pagbabago at kaunlaran ng ating lalawigan at ng inyong lugar,” Suarez said.
(The reason we formed PULI is for the heroes who stand ready to offer their services to encourage their compatriots to help improve their community. Let us help and work together for change and development in our province and your respective areas.)
During the meeting with the PULI members, Suarez also announced the formation of the Northern Quezon Development Cluster as a mechanism that will spur growth and development in the Polillo Group of Islands.
“It was my principle as government that the development of the province should not only benefit the few towns. My aim is for the development that benefits everybody especially the far-flung areas, the less privileged and those who need help the most from assistance given by the provincial government,” Suarez underscored.
Suarez and his entourage proceeded to the Polillo Central Elementary School where he and provincial officials turned over agricultural inputs and cash assistance to scores of beneficiaries under the “Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged o Displaced Workers (TUPAD), a livelihood assistance program for disadvantaged or displaced workers under the auspices of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The governor also led the inauguration of provincial government infrastructure projects in Polillo such as the Polillo-Burdeos Road concreting project; Polillo Medicare Hospital and the 24-hour electricity supply as part of the energization project of the town.
Suarez also thanked the island constituents for their support and shared the accomplishments and achievements that Quezon province has reaped from various award-giving bodies citing “Quezonians like you also deserve such awards because of your efforts and cooperation. (Gideon Belen/PNA)
